Rean was anything but a rookie though. After all he earned his way up the fisherman ranks twice and once was during a civil war no less! So he didn't even flinch or even shake as the challenger taunted him. His body was still as a rock all throughout those attempts.

That was until the fish finally took the bait and tried to break free in one quick move. Rean let the pole get pulled a little to give the fish the illusion of breaking free. But then just as its guard lowered, Rean pulled hard on the rod, the reel roaring almost as rean spun it furiously.
