Spending day after day in the cabin Natsu had built near the Guild, going on missions and living, being WITH Natsu was plain and simple, pure. Heaven. Lucy could genuinely not think of any time she was as happy as she was with him. It still amused her to think of the times she was too flustered to acknowledge her feelings for him, until things came to a head.

And then the kids came along during that mission - Nev and Justine, along with their 'mom' Regine. If Natsu becoming an integral part of Lucy's life was like completing her, then the kids and Regine were the added frosting on a perfected cake. Yeah that metaphor was all over the place. GRANTED it was a little difficult to get time alone with Nev and Justine almost demanding their attention a good amount of the time, but she didn't mind, and didn't think Natsu did either. They had their evenings together, and their little hiding spots to sneak away to, sometimes just for fun.

Meanwhile the first rays of light were beginning to filter in through the window-shades of their room, with Lucy snuggled up against Natsu's side, an arm wrapped around him with a faint smile on her lips. Not quite awake yet, but in that in-between point of just about to rouse. The birds had barely even begun to chirp when the distant BAM! of a door swinging open, followed by barely hushed giggling voices and scampering feet could be heard by Dragonslayer senses with ease, obviously heading towards said cabin.

Said princess grins, "Have I ever mentioned you can be really annoying when you're right?" She teased. "Just for that.." She popped the marshmallow into her mouth. "Mine now." She spent all that time to toast it for him! GASP, how cruel! But she was giggling, all the same. At least he wasn't being 'I told you so' levels of smug.

He could have leaned over and snap it up if he really wanted but intead he lets out a mock gasp before squeezing Lucy tighter to his chest a little bit.

"How could you~?"

She appreciated him not stealing the marshmallow she stole from him. She sputtered a soft giggle, "Didn't expect a princess to steal from the dragon that stole the princess, did you?" She teased, "And you know what.. I'm going to do it again." She reached for the bag~ the AUDACITY.

She isn't even paying attention to the beginnings of the quiet rumbles outside, she's enjoying herself so much.

"Oh no you won't" He let her have that one. Next marshmallow is getting snapped up by the hungry dragon no matter what!

"Ohohohoho, and how are you going to stop me?" She teased from her not so lofty position in his arms. Spearing the marshmallow, she held it over his fire, laughing softly. "Mmmm, it looks like it's a particularly thick and sugary one too! It's all stuffed with marshmallowy goodness~ Yum yum~!" She fully expects him to snap that marshmallow off the skewer once it's done toasting, of course. She just has to rub it in a little.

{Uh uh uhhh nice try but why would I tell you how I'll do it?" Element of urprise and all that. However his first target is actually Lucy's neck to distract her.

"Because you love me, and you want to play fair?" Lucy asked innocently. Silly her, thinking the master of sneak attacks wanted to play fair. "Oooh, look how toasty it is~. So delicious -" she plucked the marshmallow off the skewer with a dramatic slowness, "You're going in my mouth Mr. Mallow..~" Gasp! Sugar thief!

... well, at least until he sneak attacks her.

"You mean like you play fair?" Natsu answered cheekily. Only to open his mouth with a quick hum before nipping sharply on Lucy's neck just as she's bringing the marshmallow to her mouth.

Lucy gave him her very best haughty look, hmphing as she brought the marshmallow to her lips. "Excuse me, I -always- play fai-gkg!" Lucy squealed, dropping the marshmallow in surprise. Quick, save it before it hits the floor!

"Natsu!" Lucy laughed, "What happened to playing fair!" You know, the thing you never agreed to do?

it won't land on the floor since a long necked dragon head grows out of the flame in Natsu's hand and grabs the skewer in its mouth before flinging it accurately towards natsu who just snaps it up with a big chomp.

"Mwevewr swaid I woul~!"

"No fair." Lucy grinned, before breaking into laughter at the way he just snaps up the marshmallow. "You really are more animal than man." She teased. Starting to reach in for another marshmallow, she yelped in surprise when she's caught off guard by the crack of thunder, and the sudden sound of water rushing outside. "Oh! That startled me - wow, the sky has really opened up hasn't it..!" Briefly she worried about his cabin - but it should still be fine.

"And despite all that you still fell for me and not some perfect prince you pretended was your type~" Natsu pointed out so proudly as he watched her get another marshmallow but almost drop it when the thunder rattled the windows. As well as his ears given he could hear it so clearly.

"Maybe we should get inside our little tent now."

"I didn't pretend!" Lucy defended herself. "I Just.. thought that was the ideal for me. How was I to know you would end up being so amazingly perfect for me? Besides, you -are- a type of prince. Just not a perfect one. So I'm still right." She teased.

Stretching a little, she shifted at his suggestion, "Yep, sounds about right to me. Let me up." So she can get up and climb into the tent with him and the marshmallows.

"Nice save. Fine you win that one." Natsu rolled his eyes as he released Lucy so she could get up to slip under the cozy blanket tent pitched in the center of the room. Naturally he followed right after.

Lucy slipped off his lap with a chuckle, then scooped up the bag of marshmallows and climbed on into the tent, scooting aside a little to make room for him. "Now this is nice," she murmured. Once he was in with her and cozy, she scooted closer to snuggle up against him.

Natsu slipped inside and pulled the entrance to their little tent closed to complete this little bubble of warmth and peace for the two of them. Which in turn meant it was fairly dark until he made the flame appear in his hands again as he sat crosslegged next to Lucy so they could lean against one another

Ooh, she had thought he'd leave the opening still open - but this was even more perfect. "Good idea", Lucy grinned, immediately leaning against his side with a little nuzzle against his shoulder. "All the comforts of camping without the inconveniences of getting rained on." She snaked her arm around him. "Or bugs."

"Not quite perfect though since I can't bring the stars in here too. Though I could try to make some of my own if you want." Simply creating some sparks to twinkle overhead harmlessly from time to time wasn't that great of a challenge for his current control of his magic.

She idly rubbed the arm she had claimed in a gentle reassurance. "The stars can wait." She murmured contentedly, "Right now all I need is you." Prrpurr. "Besides," she added a moment later, "I can get a blanket with stars printed on it if we do this again." More like when.

Natsu felt his own heart grow a little warmer at her comforting gesture and just focused on the fire in his hand as he leaned towards Lucy bringing his lips gently to the back of her ear with a nuzzle.

" Guess we can do it like that then~"

Lucy chuckled softly at the nuzzle, her own lips pressed against his arm affectionately, listening to his breathing and the sound of the rain. "At least for now." Until they can find something better. But for now, it was roasting marshmallows with the one she loves - there was nothing better than that!

"That's more than fine by me~" Natsu would never say no to More Lucy cuddling like this and the marshmallows were an undeniable bonus as the two immersed themselves into the lovely bubble of warmth and affection they had made for each other.

"I'd be shocked if you said otherwise." Lucy reopened her bag of marshmallows, pierced it on the skewer and bipped him gently on the nose with it before she lowered the treat to the flames in his hand. "I'd say the same though. Being able to snuggle with you in such a cozy little space.." New favorite pasttime!

Natsu carefully adjusted his flames for the new position to allow the perfect roasting for the marshmallow while he reveled in the warmth and softness of Lucy's body in his arms. She was just so perfect to him and he would do nothing to ruin this moment right now.

"Well if you like it so much you just have to say the word and we'll do it again."

She grinned to herself at the adjustment, and to reward his cooperation she did not, in fact, eat the marshmallow herself this time. Instead she shifts a little to carefully hold up the treat to her precious love so he can eat the noms. "Hmmm, every day it rains?" She kind of like the cozy feel of hearing the rain outside, while cuddling in his arms and eating snacks. It was probably also the ultimate in lazy things to do.

Hrm. Would it get boring to go camping -every- time it rains? What if it rained all week?
